Girls' Olympiad 2023
The Ukrainian team won the European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics 2023!
The European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics was held in Lund, Sweden, from the 15th to the 21st of July. 127 contestants from Europe took part, along with 59 contestants from other continents.
The Ukrainian team had four contestants; three more Ukrainians took part in the olympiad for other teams: Austria, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
The Ukrainian team consisted of:
- Alisa Potomkina, a 10th-grade student (2022–2023 academic year) of the “Akademiia” Gymnasium in Kyiv, finished third and received a gold medal;
- Daryna Karpenko, a graduate of Khmelnytskyi Gymnasium No. 1, finished fourth and received a gold medal;
- Daria Lobas, an 8th-grade student of the Lviv Physics and Mathematics Lyceum at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, finished 19th and received a silver medal;
- Olha Volianyk, a graduate of Khmelnytskyi Gymnasium No. 1, finished 33rd and received a bronze medal.
In total the Ukrainian team received two gold, one silver and one bronze medal. Together with the Polish team we won the unofficial medal standings.
The team leaders were Oleksandr Mitsa and Andrii Fylypiuk. The trip was organised by the Federation of Olympiad Programming. It was fully sponsored by Citadel LLC.
Ukrainians also took part in the olympiad for other countries:
- Uliana Malaniak (Austria/Khmelnytskyi) finished 15th and received a silver medal;
- Karina Kovalska (Netherlands/Ternopil) finished 92nd;
- Kateryna Oseledets (Luxembourg/Odesa) finished 110th.
