Balkan Olympiad 2026
From the 14th to the 20th of September 2026, the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (BOI 2026) was held in Tirana, Albania. The competition brought together 75 contestants from 18 countries: the olympiad’s 13 member countries and 5 guest countries, Ukraine among them.
The Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (BOI) is an annual informatics competition for the countries of the Balkan Peninsula. Ukraine took part as a guest country, so our contestants competed outside the official ranking and received unofficial medals.
The team:
🥇 Vladyslav Khalin, an 11th-grade student at Kharkiv Lyceum No. 118 of the Kharkiv City Council (coach: Valentyn Melnyk), won a gold medal — the third-best result of the olympiad;
🥉 Andrii Kuzma, an 11th-grade student at the Uzhhorod Scientific Lyceum (coaches: Serhii Vapnichnyi and Ihor Barenblat), won a bronze medal;
🥉 Rostyslav Yabchenko, an 11th-grade student at the “Optima” Education Centre of the city of Kyiv (coach: Valentyn Melnyk), won a bronze medal;
🥉 Benedykt Kvasnytsya, an 8th-grade student at the Physics and Mathematics Scientific Lyceum (coaches: Stepan Simak and Yurii Kazan), won a bronze medal.
The team leaders were Ihor Barenblat and Maryna Nadtochii. Anton Tsypko and Serhii Kolodiazhnyi served on the olympiad’s technical committee. The trip was organized by the Ukrainian Federation of Olympiad Programming. The trip was sponsored by Citadel.
