Junior Balkan Olympiad 2026
From the 22nd to the 28th of September 2026, the 19th Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (JBOI 2026) was held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The competition brought together 55 contestants from 13 countries.
The Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (JBOI) is an annual informatics competition for younger students from the countries of the Balkan Peninsula who are under 15.5 years old at the time of the olympiad.
The team:
🥇 Benedykt Kvasnytsya, an 8th-grade student at the Physics and Mathematics Scientific Lyceum (coaches: Stepan Simak and Yurii Kazan), won a gold medal — the second-best score of the olympiad;
🥇 Denys Ilienkov, a 10th-grade student at Kryvyi Rih Lyceum No. 129, won a gold medal;
🥈 Maksym Bondarenko, a 10th-grade student at the Boiko Author’s School (coaches: Oleksandr Mitsa and Serhii Vapnichnyi), won a silver medal;
🥈 Illia Denysiuk, a 10th-grade student at Khmelnytskyi Lyceum No. 17 (coach: Andrii Popyk), won a silver medal.
The team leaders were Serhii Zhuk and Andrii Kholod. The trip was organized by the Ukrainian Federation of Olympiad Programming. The trip was sponsored by Citadel.
